Our long (un)Holy Thursday

I just started reading Eamon Duffy’s The Stripping of the Altars this morning. It’s the wrong book to start your day off reading if you’re an Anglophile like me. I’ve only read one chapter, and I’m so angry at what was taken away from us by the Reformation in England that I’ve been almost unable to think about anything else since. It seems like the English-speaking world has been stuck at one point in our global liturgy, where the altar is stripped, for almost 500 years now. How can we get people to resume that liturgy, by the washing of feet, the lament of Good Friday, and then the resumption of a full life at Easter?
